Steel-framed buildings
Steel remains the most efficient method for creating industrial and commercial structures and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future. RHW can design and manufacture bespoke steel-framed buildings to meet customers’ specific requirements.
We manufacture buildings from hot-rolled steel sections. Hot-rolled steel is more commonly used for larger, clear-span buildings and heavier-duty applications, such as those found in industrial environments.
Hot rolled and cold rolled steel
Hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel are distinguished by the temperature at which the material is shaped:
- Hot-rolled steel is produced at a mill by rolling steel at temperatures above 900°C, allowing it to be formed into the desired section.
- Cold-rolled or cold-formed steel sections are produced at ambient temperature by mechanically bending or folding a flat steel plate or sheet. We often use cold-rolled steel sections for cladding systems, as we find these are a more cost-effective way of finishing a steel building.
Steel factory platforms and access
Our platforms are designed to meet the unique needs of each project and environment. Whether you need a low-level operator’s platform to enhance an individual’s safety, catwalks connecting first-floor offices to reduce pedestrian traffic in high-risk areas, or an expansive working platform for complex multi-step production lines, we ensure all solutions are crafted to specification.
Every platform and structural steel design undergoes rigorous structural calculations with our CE-certified manufacturing process, ensuring high-quality results and full compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Stair towers & access solutions
We deliver bespoke stair towers and steel access solutions designed and built for both internal and external environments. From complex fire escape systems to custom roof-access platforms, every project is developed to be safe, practical, and fully compliant with British building regulations.
Whether it’s creating multi-storey fire escapes for commercial buildings, spiral stairs for space-limited areas, or durable outdoor staircases for industrial tanks and towers, RHW Engineering offers fully tailored systems. Our staircases are CE marked, structurally calculated, and available in mild steel, stainless steel, or aluminium with a wide choice of finishes. RHW’s end-to-end service includes site surveys, technical drawings, manufacture, installation and comprehensive regulatory compliance for ensuring a seamless experience.
Gantries & steelwork for lifting equipment
We design, fabricate, and install bespoke steel gantries and lifting beams, providing reliable solutions for overhead equipment and heavy-lifting needs. Whether integrating hoists, cranes, lighting rigs, or monitors, our turnkey service includes structural surveys, detailed drawings, load calculations, and full safety certification. Every system is engineered to integrate seamlessly within your existing infrastructure, ensuring safe installation and minimal disruption.
Gantry steelwork provides strength, flexibility, and independence from fixed structures. From overhead gantries with access platforms to temporary lift beams for equipment installation, our solutions are built for durability and performance. Partnering with RHW provides you with a trusted team delivering cost-effective, fully certified lifting systems to the highest industry standards.
